P O P / U / L A R - The Graduate Collection!

So myself and my fellow F.D.I 4th year students at Heriot-Watt University have been working away madly over the past few months to finish our Graduate Collections.  After all the lunch-time Subway runs, late nights, days in the Workshop, blood, sweat, tears and with our FINAL Walk-Through this Thursday, the end is very much in sight now!

It is only now as work on our Collections is winding down and we are left to focus on other aspects of our remaining Modules that I have more of an opportunity to start divulging some of the details on my Collection.
The main inspiration for my Graduate Collection has been taken from elements of both Pop Art and Art Nouveau, the Pop Art aspect has contributed to the colour palette of the Collection making it very playful and bright while the Art Nouveau aspect has inspired the design features within the garments such as panels etc.
A big part of my Collection is the variety of Print work included within the garments.  All of these have been Digitally printed, I have designed all the prints myself prior to the digital printing process, with the exception of the Roy Lichtenstein Pop Art images.  Throughout the research process I sourced relevant imagery from Lichtenstein's work and decided to collage my favourite's together in order to create a comic strip and almost scrapbook look for that particular print before it being Digitally printed.  Whereas, the other prints began either in my Sketchbook or from initial Screen printing experimentation I developed these original Print ideas further within my Sketchbook and on Photoshop.

   Here's a Sneak Peek at some of the P O P / U / L A R Collection ...
